Biography

My name is Jerry J. Mikus, Jr. and I am the Republican candidate for State Representative District 50. I am a native Texan raised by deaf parents. I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas with a B.B.A. I am a Vietnam veteran and served with the U. S. Army Security Agency for four years. I have been married for 34 plus years and have 3 grown children. My family and I have lived in Austin since 1975, in the Pflugerville Independent School District since the early 1980’s and have lived in Pflugerville for the past 14+ years. I am a Registered Investment Advisor and have been licensed in the financial industry since 1984. I have been told that I have the unique quality of patience and insight. The Mikus family has belonged to St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church for over fourteen years and I am a member of the National Rifle Association and local Republican organizations. Over the years, I have volunteered with several organizations such as the Travis County Council for the Deaf, Vaughn House, Travis County Interpreters for the Deaf, St. Elizabeth Landscape Detail and many other groups.
